Job Summary
Direct Raw Material Buyer/Planner responsible for planning, procuring, and managing the flow of direct materials into manufacturing operations. Key duties include developing optimized supply plans, issuing and tracking purchase orders, configuring ERP data for accurate planning, defining inventory policies, monitoring stock levels and supplier performance, managing consignment relationships, mitigating stockout and overstock risks, and driving continuous improvement through reporting and cross-functional collaboration. The role interfaces with procurement, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and logistics, supports S&OP processes, and may involve mentoring junior planners. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and 5–10 years of procurement/material planning experience in manufacturing, with ERP experience (Infor M3, SAP or equivalent) and knowledge of lean/Kanban/inventory optimization; APICS CPIM/CPSM or equivalent is a plus; U.S. export-control compliance (ITAR/EAR) restricts eligibility to U.S. Persons.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field (preferred)
- 5 to 10 years of experience in procurement, material planning, supply chain roles (direct materials preferred)
- Experience with ERP systems (Infor M3, SAP, or equivalent)
- Experience with planning and procurement tools (e.g. EDI, forecast engines, BI reporting tools)
- Familiarity with Lean, Kanban, pull flow, and inventory optimization techniques
- Certifications such as APICS CPIM, CPSM, or equivalent are a plus
- Experience handling supplier performance metrics, contract management, and cross-functional collaboration
- Strong background in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Reporting to Procurement Manager
- ISO 9001 awareness and export-control considerations (ITAR/EAR)
