Job Summary
Provide guidance and supervision of children and adolescents in a residential setting, assisting residents with daily life decisions while maintaining Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) in the milieu. Conduct discipline within Agency policy and contractual requirements to promote the physical and mental well-being of each child. Implement de-escalation techniques utilizing Handle with Care when necessary and facilitate community visits to locations requiring travel, stairs, or elevators. The role involves flexible scheduling including weekends and evenings, with shifts potentially under three hours for staff meetings. Bilingual or ASL skills earn an additional compensation percentage.
Required Qualifications
- willing and capable to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as scheduled
- knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues
- reliable transportation
- valid drivers license
- proof of automobile insurance
- registration
- inspection
- driving record
- minimum of three seats in addition to the drivers seat
- ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- ability to push or pull 10 lbs or more
- ability to communicate effectively
- ability to be trained in and implement de-escalation techniques utilizing Handle with Care when necessary
Desired Qualifications
- previous residential work experience
- obtaining Bachelors or similar in psychology, social work, or related fields
- experience as Community Health Workers
- childcare workers
- personal experience
- Bilingual/ASL skills
