Job Summary
Direct Care Providers will provide hands-on support and coaching to individuals in home and community settings while demonstrating patience, strong communication, and a person-centered mindset. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), meal preparation, household organization, hygiene care, lifestyle budgeting, grocery shopping, goal setting, medication reminders, transportation to appointments and community activities, reinforcing person-centered goals, implementing care plans and behavioral support strategies, maintaining professional boundaries and respectful communication, completing documentation and incident reports, ensuring client safety per APD guidelines, communicating with families and support coordinators, promoting client dignity and community involvement, and utilizing EVV for clock-in/out procedures. The role requires adaptability to varying client needs and travel within the selected counties (Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa) as an Independent Contractor. A high school diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid, DCCC certification within onboarding timelines, background screening, and a valid Florida driver’s license are required, with additional certifications (CNA/BLS/HHA/DSP) preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR/First Aid Certification (required within 30 days of onboarding)
- APD Direct Care Core Competencies (DCCC) Training Certificate (required within 30 days of onboarding)
- Ability to pass a Level II Background Screening
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs
- Proven track record providing one-on-one care in home or facility settings
- Reliable personal vehicle for professional use (gas/mileage not reimbursed)
- Personal smartphone required for app-based scheduling and client communication
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- CNA, BLS, HHA, or DSP certifications preferred (not required)
