Job Summary
Direct Care Intern at Bridgewell supports individuals with disabilities in Bridgewell’s programs through observation and later participation in activities, community outings, and skill-building using technology in the home. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living (meal prep, cooking, shopping, cleaning, mobility assistance), observing with adherence to regulatory standards (DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, CARF), maintaining safety, completing core trainings (CPR/FA, OSHA, PABC), and participating in program management tasks. The internship is flexible (up to 20 hours/week) and emphasizes relationship-building, hands-on care, and growth opportunities within a multi-program human services organization.
Required Qualifications
- High school seniors, new graduates, college students preferred
- Interest in finding out about the human services field
- Desire to have fun, make a difference and learn new skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word/Excel/Email, web-based applications)
- Ability to maneuver people and assist with mobility and daily living activities
- Ability to work with people with disabilities and within safety policies
- CORI acceptable according to policy
