Job Summary
Director, Work Planning leads regional multi-discipline outage planning for Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor infrastructure projects, coordinating Track, Electric Traction, Communications & Signals, and Structures work groups and developing labor forecasts to support each project. Oversees regional teams in Mid-Atlantic, New York, and New England Divisions to plan project-driven outages and collaborates with Project Management, Construction Management, Transportation, Service Planning, Engineering, and external partners to craft comprehensive outage and labor support plans. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Engineering, or related field and 11+ years of relevant experience; proficient in MS Office, Project, Visio, and Excel; strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management abilities; 4 days in the office with 1 day remote work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Engineering, or a closely related field
- 11+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the railroad industry
- Strong understanding of railroad systems design, construction, operations, and maintenance
- Experience with labor relations and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Microsoft Project and Visio
- Ability to lead regional teams and develop outage and labor support plans
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
