Job Summary
Dining Services Supervisor is responsible and accountable for supervision of associates in a fast paced, excellence-focused college food service operation. This is a 9-month, 40 hour per week position and requires night and weekend work. The role provides primary supervisory/manager-on-duty responsibilities in one dining operation and may be assigned to others as needed. The successful candidate will supervise front-of-house servers, cooks, and dish room staff, monitor performance, train and coach, initiate progressive discipline, and assist with performance evaluations while maintaining a strong guest-service environment. Responsibilities include supervising staff, training and developing team members, ensuring adherence to recipes, menus, and college policies; managing production to keep stations stocked during peak times; maintaining high guest-service standards and resolving service issues; cash register operations compliance; upholding sanitation and health codes; enforcing uniform policies; and performing other tasks as assigned by management. The role requires strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills, experience with Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel/OneNote, and a valid driver’s license. Working conditions include physical activity, lifting up to 25 pounds, and night/weekend schedules with limited travel and potential holiday or break variations. Training in ServSafe is mandatory within specified timelines. The position operates within Davidson College’s Dining Services environment and supports mission-aligned service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- minimum of 1 year of commercial foodservice leadership experience
- Servsafe Manager certification or certification within 60 days of employment
- National brands Manager certification within 30 days of employment (if applicable)
