Job Summary
Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit positive. Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter, answer the telephone, and handle product orders while running the department register and making change. Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and pull items from coolers or freezers to prepare and replenish supplies for cooking. Maintain a clean, sanitary work area, check food freshness, remove trash, wash dishes, and price and order product as needed. Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction, assist in other store areas, and take on special projects assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Prior food service experience is a plus
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
- Exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
- Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen
- Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions
- Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions
- Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
- Ability to report to work when scheduled and on time
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift
- Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

- Ability to run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable
- Ability to remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary
- Ability to price and order product and deliver orders as needed
- Ability to work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Ability to assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
