Digitalization & Automation lead, SSA

Job Summary
Lead digitalization and automation initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa, including the development and execution of site digital roadmaps, Industry 4.0 strategies, and automation & smart manufacturing programs. Drive data-driven decision making, governance, and performance management; partner with plant leadership, engineering, and external providers to deliver value, compliance, and continuous improvement. Champion cybersecurity governance, training, and safe installations; mentor teams and influence senior stakeholders to align with global standards and regional goals. Located in/equiv to SA facility (PE or Johannesburg preferred) with regional/global travel; travel across SSA for program implementation and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum University degree in Engineering or related field
- Fluent in English
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in a technical function within a manufacturing environment
- Experience in manufacturing automation technologies, machine vision, automation systems, testing & qualification experience
- Project management experience
- Digital skills with automation (PLC) and OT technologies (OPC UA, industrial networking)
- Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- Basic programming knowledge is a plus
- Experience leading cross-regional and cross-functional teams
- Strong leadership and communication skills
