Digital Pathology Technician

Job Summary

Operate whole-slide scanners to generate high-resolution Whole Slide Images at 40x magnification while performing daily startup, calibration, and preventive maintenance. Load and prepare slides for scanning, configure parameters, and monitor multiple units simultaneously to maximize productivity. Review digital images for quality, re-scan non-compliant slides, and troubleshoot issues like out-of-focus images or barcode failures. Manage digital file uploads, verify barcode accuracy, and maintain complete traceability between physical specimens and digital records. Maintain the DreamPath paraffin block storage system, file archived blocks, and retrieve specimens for recuts, additional staining, and client requests. Ensure all operations meet HistoWiz quality standards and support turnaround times in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in Biology, Laboratory Science, or a related field
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Ability to learn laboratory software systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production laboratory
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with laboratory teams
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to distinguish fine visual details during image quality review
  • Ability to work safely around laboratory equipment and chemicals while wearing required PPE

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Biology, Laboratory Science, or a related field
  • Previous laboratory, histology, pathology, or digital imaging experience
  • Experience operating digital pathology or microscopy imaging systems
  • Experience working in a CLIA, CAP, GLP, or regulated laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
