Job Summary
Teach guitar classes, AP Music Theory, and a digital music class; develop and administer music education curriculum aligned with district goals; promote a safe classroom conducive to individualized and small-group instruction; plan inclusive, balanced lessons with adequate rehearsal time; conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and modify instructional methods to meet diverse needs; utilize varied repertoires and coordinate rehearsals and performances outside the classroom; maintain records and communicate effectively with students and parents; pursue ongoing professional development and collaborate with staff; ensure equipment is maintained and inventory managed; location is Westlake; requires state music teaching certification and a bachelor’s degree in education; travel to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: Secondary education
- Endorsements: Music K-12 or Music 6-12
- Teaching subjects: Guitar, Digital Music, AP Music Theory
- State Certification as a Music Teacher
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Education: Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
- Experience: Successful prior teaching experience in music for the appropriate grade level preferred
