Job Summary
Build and maintain the Hemispheric Institute Digital Video Library and other digital collections by organizing acquisition, processing, and preservation of assets including event websites and online projects. Collaborate with NYU Libraries staff to ensure consistency of technical formats, preservation standards, and accessibility while managing copyrights and permissions. Create and update multilingual online teaching materials in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, editing written, visual, and pedagogical content to facilitate research. Engage Institute constituencies at NYU and beyond through events, targeted communicational strategies, and the dissemination of digital resources to expand access for researchers and public scholars.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in the Humanities, Social Sciences, or related field
- 3+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working directly with digital assets and archives
- Communicating to university audiences
- Communicating to diverse national and international constituencies
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Experience creating, managing, and growing digital media assets and archival collections
- Written and oral fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
- Ability to translate documents from or to English as appropriate
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects with national and international partners concurrently
- Proficiency in standard office productivity software
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree in the Humanities, Social Sciences, or related field
- 1+ years Experience in the creation of pedagogical and curricular materials based on digital/archival collections
- Broad knowledge or understanding of Latin American or/and Latinx culture, and politics, both with an Americas-wide frame and within specific local contexts
- Experience developing and implementing social media campaigns
- Working knowledge of video preservation methods and formats
- Basic proficiency in website content creation with any of the major Content Management Systems
- Proficiency in major languages of the Americas, such as Portuguese or Kreyòl
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams to accomplish archive-related projects
