Job Summary
Directs operations and guides the department by planning, coordinating, and empowering team members to provide the best possible shopping experience with a focus on customer service, checkout excellence, and sales goals. Mentors and coaches staff, supports training and cross-training, collaborates with leadership on department scheduling to improve customer service, store sales, and profitability, ensures product freshness and safety compliance, oversees ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display, operates a register when needed, may lead in other departments, and promotes Meijer’s culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for customer service with total engagement that conveys approachability to customers and fellow team members
- Initiates interactions with customers and peers
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Retail or other customer service experience preferred
- Creative thinking skills
- Ability to influence others
- Ability to quickly build rapport and gain customer confidence to create repeat business
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend and twist while handling product
- Experience executing plans
- Positive influence to create a strong team environment
