Job Summary
Digital Evidence Analyst I supports the Digital Evidence Laboratory within the Criminal Bureau (Massachusetts). Primary duties include identifying and collecting digital evidence in the field, preserving electronic data from computers, mobile devices, media, and servers, examining digital evidence to support criminal investigations, and testifying in court. The role involves on-call responsibilities, travel to offsite evidence scenes, and ongoing training in digital forensics. The candidate should have hands-on digital forensic experience, familiarity with mobile devices, networks, and computer systems, strong written/verbal communication, and attention to detail. The position is full-time/non-exempt with a salary range of $81,296–$84,937 commensurate with experience, based in Boston, MA, with hybrid remote options.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in digital forensics
- Academic programs that include significant hands-on digital forensic experience, technical experience, and report writing experience may be considered towards the experience requirement
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems, networks, mobile devices, and the digital forensic process
- Knowledge, training, and experience in the area of criminal investigations is desired
- Current certifications in the field of digital forensics are desired
- Proficiency with software applications used in the acquisition and analysis of digital evidence
- Familiarity with Forensic Explorer, Cellebrite applications, and Magnet Axiom
- Experience examining mobile devices, preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making
- A valid driver’s license as travel is required
