Job Summary
Digital Editorial Lead at FOX 5 DC/FOX 5 PLUS leads the editorial vision for digital, social, streaming, and connected TV coverage from the Bethesda newsroom, guiding the local digital team and partnering with regional teams to grow audience, optimize storytelling, and deliver breaking news and weather across platforms. The role emphasizes setting editorial standards for web, apps, social, streaming, and FOX LOCAL, overseeing story selection, framing, headlines, SEO, audience strategy, and multi-platform distribution; managing and developing Digital Content Creators; driving real-time digital coverage of breaking news and severe weather; leading multi-platform video strategies (TikTok, Meta, YouTube Shorts); leveraging audience data to inform decisions and growth; coordinating across the operation with newsroom leaders, field crews, and regional teams; building AI-powered workflows to improve efficiency; and adapting to a 24/7 operation while maintaining accuracy and speed. Qualifications include 5+ years in digital content with 2+ years in team leadership, strong news judgment, AP style mastery, proficiency with CMS and analytics tools, and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications (digital publishing emphasis preferred). Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of digital content experience publishing original content & news for digital and social platforms
- at least 2 years leading teams in a mid-to-large market
- exceptional news judgment, writing, and copy-editing skills with mastery of AP style
- ability to make and communicate fast, sound editorial decisions under deadline pressure
- expertise in social, streaming, CMS platforms, video publishing, and analytics tools
- stellar leadership, communication and organization skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field with emphasis on digital publishing preferred
