Job Summary
Digital Communications Systems Engineer needed to advance NC3 mission within APL’s Nuclear Command Communications Systems Group. You will contribute to digital engineering capabilities, MBSE-driven analyses, and system-of-systems assessments; develop and communicate concepts and analyses to sponsors and working groups; collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to improve interoperability between analysis tools and models; travel as needed and maintain an active Top Secret clearance. The role emphasizes applying DE/MBSE methods, modeling with tools like Cameo, Sparx EA, Capella, Visual Paradigm, or Rhapsody, and utilizing DODAF/UAF frameworks to deliver digital engineering artifacts and system architectures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related field
- At least five years of relevant systems engineering experience
- At least three years of hands-on MBSE experience
- Working knowledge of wireless communications systems and IP-based networking
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices
- Knowledge of digital engineering and systems engineering modeling techniques and methodologies
- Familiarity with DODAF and UAF
- Willingness to stay up-to-date with DE/MBSE tools and methodologies
- Ability to analyze sophisticated problems and develop innovative solutions in system architecture and integration
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; ability to lead and work autonomously in a team
- Willing and able to travel occasionally (local and non-local)
- Active Top Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship
