Job Summary

Draft and edit digital advocacy content for grassroots advocates, including emails, text messages, website copy, and social media posts. Manage routine communications to support acquisition, cultivation, and activation efforts while maintaining the communications calendar and coordinating approvals. Assist with building and scheduling messages through digital platforms, monitoring basic performance metrics, and helping data partners with content needs. Maintain documentation for workflows and provide general support to the Public Affairs team. This entry-level role supports API's Public Affairs team in advancing natural gas and oil policy at the state and federal level.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 0-3 years of experience in communications, public affairs, politics, advocacy, marketing, digital media, or a related field
  • Relevant internship experience
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and copywriting skills with careful attention to detail
  • Ability to write clearly for public audiences and adapt tone for emails, text messages, website copy, and social media
  • Interest in grassroots advocacy, public affairs, policy communications, or online engagement
  • Comfort learning and using digital platforms for email, text messaging, landing pages, social media, and content approvals
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and rounds of feedback
  • Collaborative team player who can work with internal partners across departments
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital communications best practices
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, follow processes, and improve content based on performance and team feedback
  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc. on occasion
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion
  • Up to 10% travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, peer-to-peer texting tools, or similar platforms
