Job Summary
Plan, develop, and direct all nutritional care activities for assigned Veterans, including those with complex medical and nutritional needs. Gathers nutritional data to diagnose nutrition-specific problems and develops individualized medical nutrition therapy plans. Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of interventions, revising plans as conditions change. Manage the VA MOVE Weight Management Program, conducting group education and providing individual counseling. Serve as the nutrition expert on the interdisciplinary treatment team, collaborating with physicians and nurses to integrate nutritional care into total treatment programs. Provide nutrition counseling for individuals and groups, adapting techniques to the patient's cultural, religious, and educational situation.
Required Qualifications
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
- Computer maneuverability
- Detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
- Bachelor's Degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university
- Completed a didactic program in dietetics accredited by ACEND/CADE
- Minimum of one (1) advanced practice credential relevant to the area of practice (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR), Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), or Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO))
- Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) as confirmed with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
