Job Summary

Monitor weight changes and provide nutrition interventions, complete admission evaluations, and conduct weekly audits. Create and update resident care plans, formulate therapeutic menus, and ensure accurate menu adherence with appropriate substitutions. Oversee inventory levels, maintain sanitary dining areas, and provide point-of-service meal delivery while educating staff on dietary functions. Read cost reports, interpret resident conditions, and lead inservice programs. Work 24 hours weekly from 8a-4p at Southbridge Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university
  • current registration as dietician by the Committee of Dietetic Registration
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
  • Must be knowledgeable of dining service procedures as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines governing dietary functions in the long-term care facility
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Dining Service Department
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of the dining service areas; must perform regular inspections of dietary services areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning
  • Must be able to read and interpret dietary cost reports, financial data, etc.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning the resident's condition
  • Must participate in planning and conducting inservice educational programs
  • Must be able to provide point of service meal delivery
  • Must be able to follow therapeutic diets guidelines, including proper temperature and serving time
  • Must be able to assure that menus are accurately adhered to and appropriate substitutes are made per policy
  • Must be able to ensure quality and quantity of all food delivery
  • Must be able to oversee that sufficient inventory is maintained according to policy and procedure including emergency supply
  • Must be able to assure the planning, preparation and serving of all therapeutic diets
  • Must be able to educate department staff in all aspects of dietary functions
  • Must be able to monitor weights/weight changes and provide nutrition intervention when necessary
  • Must be able to complete all nutrition evaluations on admissions
  • Must be able to complete weekly/monthly weight audits
  • Must be able to document all nutrition-related resident visits
  • Must be able to create and update resident care plans
  • Must be able to follow federal and state mandatory guidelines regarding staff vaccinations
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they receive an approved exemption from Athena, except where prohibited by state law

Desired Qualifications

  • A minimum one (1) year experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility preferred
  • Training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc., preferred
