Job Summary
Plan therapeutic diets and menus for a State facility and administer medical nutrition therapy to prevent and treat diseases and health conditions. Assess data from medical records, including diagnoses and laboratory results, to develop nutrition care plans and provide counseling. Calculate caloric and nutrient needs to establish individualized regimens and check menu content for therapeutic adjustments. Serve as a consultant to medical and nursing staff while maintaining confidentiality and quality control standards. Must be licensed as a Registered Dietitian with at least one year of professional experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, home economics (food), or closely related field
- Experience equivalent to three years of professional dietetics work
- At least one year of experience as a registered dietitian
- Additional graduate coursework in dietetics, nutrition, home economics (food) or closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required non-specialized experience
- Must be licensed as a registered dietitian
