Job Summary
Plan, develop, and provide diet interventions, medical nutrition therapy, and preventive counseling to individuals and groups across primary and specialty patient care settings. Evaluate treatments for effectiveness using an evidence-based approach and lead the health care team in implementing nutrition therapies. Identify nutritional intervention methods, educate clients on disease states and health risks, and update standards of care policy manuals. Optimize nutritional status through assessment, individualized care plans, and implementation of nutrition support, including oral supplements and vitamin/mineral regimens. Coordinate educational activities for residents, families, and caregivers while recognizing cultural and religious needs. Perform quality control regarding infection control mechanisms and participate in clinical performance improvement activities and research.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in dietetics or food and nutrition through an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program
- For graduates after January 1, 2024, a master's degree designation
- Clinical nutrition experience through an approved coordinated undergraduate program or successful completion of post graduate internship
- Five (5) years experience as a clinical dietitian
- Currently holds Registered Dietitian (RD) license within the applicable state(s)
- Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Possesses and maintains advanced certification from recognized entity such as: the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), the national Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE)
- Certification should support primary area of practice and be supported by leadership
- An accepted offer will require a drug screen
- An accepted offer will require pre-employment background screening
