Job Summary
Assess nutritional needs and health plans to develop dietary-care plans and provide counseling. Approve patient menus, nutritional supplements, and facility diet manuals annually. Advise patients and families on dietary principles, modifications, and food preparation. Consult with physicians to determine specific patient diet restrictions. Monitor food service operations for conformance to safety and quality standards. Counsel individuals and groups on healthy eating habits to improve quality of life. Speak to groups about nutrition's role in preventing or managing specific diseases. Participate in treatment teams as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Dietetics, Nutrition or similar field acceptable for licensure
- Current registered dietician or registration as required by state or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services
- ServSafe certification or similar food safety certification where required by the state or facility
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Eating Disorders and Substance use strongly preferred in facilities working with those patient populations
