Job Summary
Conduct nutrition screenings, document anthropometric and laboratory data, and identify patients at nutritional risk for Registered Dietitian review. Assist with implementing nutrition care plans, coordinate between-meal nourishments and oral supplements, and provide basic nutrition education to patients and families. Monitor meal and fluid intake, evaluate food quality during meal rounds, and report significant weight changes or swallowing concerns. Participate in interdisciplinary care planning meetings, QAPI activities, and audits to support regulatory compliance with CMS and accreditation standards. Maintain active Dietetic Technician credentialing and complete continuing education as required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Foodservice Management, or related field
- Current Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary
- Must function independently
- Have personal integrity
- Have flexibility
- Ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients and support agencies
- Able to lift 20 lbs
- Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and professional
- Completes annual education requirements if applicable
- Maintains regulatory requirements
- Wears identification while on duty
- Attends annual evaluation and participates actively in this process
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time
- Attends all meetings as appropriate
- Exhibits the mission, ethics and goals of Mayers Memorial Hospital District in the performance of job duties
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in acute care, swing bed, skilled nursing, long-term care, hospital, or healthcare foodservice settings
- Knowledge of electronic medical records
- Knowledge of CMS regulations
- Knowledge of nutrition screening
- Knowledge of clinical documentation
