Job Summary
Oversee daily operations of the dietary department in a healthcare or long-term care setting, supervising cooks and dietary aides to ensure meals are prepared and served per dietary requirements, nutritional standards, and resident preferences. Lead staffing, scheduling, evaluations, and coaching; assist in hiring and onboarding. Manage meal preparation and service to meet timelines and resident needs, ensure compliance with dietary guidelines and special diets, monitor portion control and food presentation. Enforce food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations; conduct regular kitchen and dining area inspections. Collaborate on menu planning with the Diet Director or dietitian to meet nutritional requirements and accommodate seasonal changes and resident preferences. Oversee inventory, ordering, vendor relations, and ensure timely deliveries. Communicate with residents and families, align dietary services with care plans, and maintain documentation for inspections and regulatory surveys.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience in healthcare or long-term care food service
- supervisory experience required
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in Food Service Management or Dietary Supervision preferred
