Job Summary
Oversee the dietary department in a hospital or long-term care setting to ensure quality food service and nutritional care. Responsibilities include assisting with food ordering, storage, and preparation; implementing menu changes under the food service director; ensuring safe food handling; maintaining standards for food preparation and quality; ensuring dietary staff follow standardized recipes; participating in staff and departmental meetings; assisting in developing procedures and policies; supervising dietary staff and performing miscellaneous duties as needed. Requires certification in food safety and completion of a dietary manager training program; 2–3 years of supervisory experience in a hospital or long-term care dietary department is desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in food safety as required by state regulations
- Graduate of dietary manager training program approved by the Dietary Manager’s Association and/or State Health Department preferred
- Two to three years of supervisory experience in hospital or long-term care facility dietary department desirable
