Job Summary
Dietary Director oversees the dietary services department in a healthcare or long-term care facility, leading menu planning, nutrition services, staff development, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Responsible for staffing, scheduling, training, and fostering teamwork; develops nutritionally balanced menus including special diets (low-sodium, diabetic, gluten-free); collaborates with dietitians and healthcare providers to align meals with medical needs; ensures food safety/sanitation, conducts inspections, manages inventory and costs, and participates in facility inspections and audits. Engages residents and families regarding dietary concerns, coordinates with activities for events, and provides ongoing staff development and performance evaluations. Preferred education includes a bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or related field with CDM or RD certification highly desirable. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in dietary services with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Service Management, or a related field preferred
- Certification as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian (RD) highly desirable
