Job Summary
The Dietary Director oversees all aspects of the dietary department in a long-term care setting, including meal planning, food preparation, and service delivery, ensuring meals are safe, nutritious, and meet physician orders and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include managing staff, budgets, and inventory; coordinating with nursing and activities departments; developing special meals for holidays/events; hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating dietary staff; ensuring proper food storage, safety, and sanitation; maintaining diet cards and resident records; conducting nutritional assessments and monthly notes; scheduling staff and coordinating QA/IDT activities; and presenting in-service education for dietary staff. The role requires a graduate of an approved dietary manager’s course, ongoing licensing/continuing education, and at least one year of experience in a long-term care dietary department; PCC software knowledge is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved dietary manager’s course
- Must maintain required licensing and continuing education
- Minimum one year of experience in a long-term care dietary department
- Knowledge of PCC (PointClickCare) software preferred
