Job Summary
Prepare and cook nourishing food for residents and guests under sanitary conditions following State and Federal guidelines. Produce quality food products using standardized recipes, serving meals at required temperatures and times while managing special diets and blended foods. Oversee one to two dietary assistants, clean and sanitize equipment, and replenish supplies from storerooms and freezers. Ensure safe food storage and equipment usage in compliance with regulations, reading and interpreting safety manuals and Material Safety Data Sheets. Lift up to 50 pounds and work in humid conditions with frequent interruptions. Complete state-approved coursework on modified diets and sanitation within 90 days of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have knowledge of foods, food preparation, food distribution, and methods of cooking
- Must have knowledge in the use of common kitchen equipment
- Must have knowledge of elementary math
- Must complete state approved coursework regarding modified diets and sanitation within 90 days of employment
- Must be able to lift and/or move 25 pounds
- Must be able to lift and/or move 25 to 40 pounds
- Must be able to lift and/or move over 50 pounds
- Must be able to carry up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to talk or hear
- Must be able to taste or smell
- Must be able to climb or balance
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, dietary cardex and procedure manuals
- Must be able to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all supplies and use according to directions

- Prior experience in a long term care environment
