Job Summary
Assist supervisor in training personnel, maintaining inventory, and estimating food requirements to minimize waste. Prepare, portion, and serve simple food items based on forecasts and resident diet changes while conducting taste, smell, and visual tests. Perform tray line functions including obtaining supplies, serving, washing dishes, and sanitizing patient tray carts in compliance with Indiana State Board of Health standards. Maintain clean working areas, process late trays, and deliver unit snacks as ordered. Review resident diet changes daily and report staffing needs to appropriate personnel. Float to other departments as directed and maintain confidentiality regarding protected health information.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in institutional food service or family dining restaurants
- ServSafe certification
- Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment
- Knowledge of elementary mathematics
- Use of tools and equipment
- Must be able to work harmoniously with other personnel and lead
- Excellent writing, documentation, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented
Desired Qualifications
- Coursework in nutrition or food service management
- Experience in healthcare food service
