Job Summary
Dietary Assistant to support culinary and kitchen staff in a Buckner Retirement Services community. Responsibilities include setting tables, bussing and washing dishes, preparing beverages and food, serving meals and beverages in dining areas, preparing serving lines and carts, stocking groceries, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas, taking out trash, and assisting with prep work for meal services. Provide training and support to new staff as directed; work as part of a team to maintain strong working relationships. Must have/obtain a food handlers certificate, be able to read/write English, and communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Requires the ability to move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently, and to stand/walk for most of the shift. Adherence to Buckner policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and the ability to learn basic food serving, cleanliness, and sanitation requirements are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Food handlers certificate
- Ability to read and understand English
- Ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers
- Ability to move serving and preparation equipment up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds continuously
- Ability to stand/walk over 75% of shift
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment and recognize safety concerns
- Ability to work under close supervision performing routine tasks
- Ability to follow basic written and oral instructions
- Ability to work with residents and other employees
- Commitment to compliance with Buckner policies and regulatory guidelines
