Job Summary
Dietary Aide performs unskilled duties in the kitchen under the supervision of the Dietary Manager/Assistant Manager, assisting with daily meal preparation and supporting dietary operations for residents. Responsibilities include following simple oral directions, reading and writing tasks, coordinating with staff, applying knowledge of modified diets, some cooking knowledge, and possibly obtaining a Food Handler’s Certificate. Physical tasks include standing/walking during shifts, lifting 50–60 pounds, handling dishes and kitchen equipment, and working in a warm, noisy environment with temperature variations. The role requires attention to safety and the ability to communicate with patients and staff; background screening via Florida AHCA Clearinghouse is required.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to speak and follow simple oral directions
- Must have reading and writing skills
- Must be able to cooperate and work well with fellow employees
- Must have some knowledge of modified diets
- Requires some knowledge of cooking
- May be required to have Food Handler’s Certificate
- Willingness to perform simple, repetitive tasks
- Able to lift 50 to 60 pounds as needed
- Able to bend, stoop, squat and twist numerous times daily
- Must be able to withstand heat/cold and temperature changes
- No medical problems that would endanger self or others in the dietary department
