Job Summary

Prepare and portion meals, snacks, and nutritional supplements according to physician orders and therapeutic diets. Serve meals and beverages to residents while assisting with dignity and independence. Clean, sanitize, and set up dining rooms, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas. Wash dishes and utensils using approved sanitation procedures. Maintain inventory control for food supplies and report equipment malfunctions or shortages. Follow all food safety, HACCP, and CMS guidelines. Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using approved sanitation procedures. Maintain cleanliness of refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas. Report equipment malfunctions, food shortages, and safety concerns to the Dietary Manager promptly. Maintain accurate documentation related to meal service, temperatures, and sanitation logs. Work collaboratively with nursing and interdisciplinary departments to support resident nutritional needs. Assist with special events, holiday meals, and facility celebrations as assigned. Adhere to all facility policies, HIPAA requirements, and infection control standards.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous dietary, food service, restaurant, healthcare, or long-term care experience
  • Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe certification
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and safe food handling practices
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and therapeutic diet instructions
  • Dependable attendance and commitment to providing exceptional resident service
  • Genuine passion for serving seniors and contributing to their quality of life
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds safely
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures and frequent exposure to food preparation equipment
  • Ability to assist with meal service, kitchen sanitation, and respond promptly to resident dining needs

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous dietary, food service, restaurant, healthcare, or long-term care experience preferred but not required
  • Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain if required)
