Job Summary
Assist residents with making appropriate food and beverage choices while ensuring options meet dietary restrictions, allergies, and sensitivities. Perform dining service set-up including preparing meals, beverages, and other food items at proper temperatures, then manage clean-up duties such as bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, and stocking areas. Maintain clean, sanitary conditions in kitchen and dining areas by following safety protocols, infection control procedures, and HACCP logging requirements. Report hazardous conditions, defective equipment, and incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe instructions, diet orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments
- Must have or be willing to receive a recognized food safety handling certification in accordance with local or county regulations
- Must have or be willing to receive a Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County (in accordance with County health regulations)
- Must be patient and tolerant with staff, residents, and family members
- Must be able to stand and walk the majority of the working day
- Must be able to reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry, and manipulate various food products, dietary supplies, and equipment
- Must have an ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents
- Must be able to withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes, such as entering refrigerated storage areas and working at ovens, ranges, dish-washing machines, and steam tables
- This employee must be free from infections or diseases
Desired Qualifications
- One year of dietary aide experience preferred
- Basic cooking skills and willingness to learn
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions
