Job Summary
Serves meals, sets up trays, and delivers food carts to residents while adhering to portion control and temperature standards. Prepares snacks, assists in cooking, and makes authorized food substitutions. Cleans worktables, refrigerators, and floors, and washes utensils and equipment including blenders, toasters, and dishwashers. Distributes menus, completes diet spreadsheet tasks, and resolves diet issues using the current Diet Manual. Assists in inventorying supplies and participates in departmental studies and training programs as directed.
Required Qualifications
- 16 years of age or older
- work permit
- ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- ability to make independent decisions when appropriate circumstances arise
- ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
- ability to use the current Diet Manual to resolve a diet issue in the absence of the Supervisor
- proficiency in the use of the following equipment and the cleaning of this equipment: Blender, Toaster, Freezers, Oven & Range, Steam table, Refrigerators, Plate Warmer, Coffee Maker, Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal, Can Opener, and a Three Compartment Sink
