Job Summary
Dietary Aide assisting kitchen operations in a post-acute care setting; responsibilities include setting up meal trays, washing dishes, serving meals, checking and recording dishwasher chlorine concentrations and water temperatures, operating the dishwasher, preparing nourishments and snacks, sweeping/mopping, stocking groceries, and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen. Must learn food service routines quickly, participate in orientation/training of dietary staff, and collaborate with the cook and dietary supervisor. Requires ability to read technical procedures and recipes, strong mathematical and problem-solving skills, and possession of or the ability to obtain a food handlers’ certificate.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must obtain and maintain food handlers’ certificate
- Ability to read technical procedures
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Mathematical skills: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
- Reasoning ability: solve practical problems
- Ability to interpret written or diagram/form instructions
- Standing and walking frequently; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to perform in kitchen environment
