Job Summary
Prepare food for serving to residents and manage meal service to ensure satisfaction. Perform set-up, serving, and tear-down services at booked catering events while maintaining work areas in a safe and sanitary condition. Respond to resident or family member concerns and escalate issues to the Food Services Manager or Food and Beverage Manager as needed. Communicate courteously with residents, family members, visitors, and volunteers to project an appropriate image and focus on customer service excellence. This role requires a secondary school education, previous food services experience in a long-term care or hospitality environment, and preferred certifications including Food Safe Level 1, Smart Serve, and First Aid. Candidates must demonstrate empathy for seniors, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize work under strict time constraints.
Required Qualifications
- Previous food services experience in a retirement residence, long term care residence or other hospitality environment
- Completion of secondary school education or equivalent
- Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
