Job Summary
Dietary Aide assists in the preparation and serving of meals for residents in a retirement/long-term care setting, ensures work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition, and supports catering services for events. Responsibilities include preparing food for serving, ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service, responding to resident or family concerns within authority, setting up, serving, and tearing down catering events, and interacting professionally with residents, visitors and volunteers. Ideal candidates have prior food services experience in retirement or hospitality environments; completion of secondary education; Food Safe Level 1, Smart Serve, and First Aid certificates are preferred; ability to read, write and follow English instructions; demonstrated empathy for seniors; strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, organizational, and time-management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school education or equivalent
- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate is preferred
- Smart Serve Certificate is preferred
- First Aid Certificate is preferred
- Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
