Job Summary
Dietary Aide assists in preparing and serving meals, provides catering support, and maintains safe, sanitary work areas to ensure a secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities include preparing food for residents, ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service, addressing resident or family concerns with decision-making authority, setting up and tearing down catering events, and communicating courteously with residents, family members, visitors, and volunteers to uphold customer service excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school education or equivalent
- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate is preferred
- Smart Serve Certificate is preferred
- First Aid Certificate is preferred
- Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Previous food services experience in a retirement residence, long term care residence or other hospitality environment
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
