Job Summary
Dietary Aide assists with setup, preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals for residents in a long-term care setting. Responsibilities include serving meals professionally, assisting with setup and preparation of items such as beverages, salads, and desserts, setting/clearing tables, delivering tray service, maintaining kitchen/dining area cleanliness, assisting with catering and special events, training and orientation of new dietary staff, complying with health & safety regulations, provincial guidelines, and the organization’s policies; work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults; participate in quality improvement activities; and support the organization’s values and ethics. A Food Handler's Certificate and a willingness to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check are required; prior food service experience with seniors is preferred; bilingual ability is an asset.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate
- Must possess or be enrolled in Food Service Worker Training Program
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
