Job Summary
Dietary Aide role providing hands-on food service support in a senior living setting. Primary duties include reviewing, preparing, and serving meals per planned menus and special diets; preparing residents’ bedtime snacks and substituting foods as needed; maintaining sanitation and safety across the kitchen and dining areas; dishwashing and cleaning; delivering trays and serving in the dining room; and assisting with general kitchen duties such as stocking, cleaning, and safety checks. Requires ability to read, write, and communicate in English, maintain supplies and equipment, uphold sanitation standards, and assist in emergency evacuations if needed. Physical duties include intermittent movement and the ability to lift/move at least 25 pounds. Must be able to work in a part-time, healthcare-related food service environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must possess sight and hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
- Review, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with planned menus with standardized recipes and special diet orders
- Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks, as well as substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served
- Ensure food, equipment, and supplies are prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations
- Maintain the department in a clean and safe manner, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are maintained
- Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures, ensuring utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal
- Prepare and deliver snacks, etc., as instructed
- Deliver food carts and trays to designated areas, and serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed
- Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish room as instructed by supervisor
