Job Summary
Diet Tech Pediatric at Brown University Health (Bradley Hospital). Supports the Registered Dietitians by collecting information, reporting observations, and communicating with patients, families, or caregivers. Obtains food allergies and preferences, adjusts meal selections for prescribed diets, monitors menu selections for compliance, conducts daily meal rounds to assess food consumption and patient satisfaction, and provides education on food choices and meal planning. Interfaces with the Clinical Dietitian to document response to the nutrition care plan and adjust plans as needed. Maintains data in the computerized menu management system and helps with nutrition education activities, meal coaching, and in-services. Updates diet-related allergen lists, communicates changes to the kitchen, reviews specialty trays, ensures accurate meals per diet orders, and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members. Develops and updates menus and meal plans for special diets, prints menus and reports, and tracks calorie counts in the electronic health record. Guides nutrition education topics for bulletin boards and supports dietetic intern education. Requires a bachelor’s degree and ACEND program completion, with strong nutrition knowledge and effective communication. Work is in Providence, RI with a schedule that includes multiple shifts; pays $18.13 - $29.90 hourly (annualized to $37,710 - $62,192). Required Qualifications
- Completion of a baccalaureate degree granted by a US regionally accredited college/university, or foreign equivalent, and completion of an ACEND Didactic Program in Dietetics; or All ACEND required nutrition classes in a 4-year ACEND Didactic Program with advanced culinary internship pending and an anticipated completion of a baccalaureate degree within 6 months; Thorough understanding of nutrition principles and their application to human physiology and disease states; Knowledge of nutritional values of foods;Ability to identify nutritional problems and refer to Clinical Dietitian staff; Effective oral and written communication with patients, families, and hospital personnel; Leadership skills to coordinate and evaluate dietetic technician activities; Proficiency with CBORD, LifeChart, and other software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and related hospital systems; Experience with pediatric and/or psychiatric patients is highly desirable; Prior hospital/nursing facility nutrition experience is desirable.
