Job Summary
Diet Clerk provides nutritional care to patients by preparing and delivering diet information to tray assembly, production, and delivery personnel, updating diet information for patient rooms as received from nursing units, and assisting patients in making menu decisions that reflect a healthy, well-balanced diet within the patients' dietary prescriptions. The role requires high school graduation, a Washington State Food Handlers Card, and strong written/verbal communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure. The position emphasizes knowledge of therapeutic diets, computer proficiency, and delivering courteous, customer-focused service in a hospital environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current Washington State Food Handlers Card
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Maintain professional demeanor at all times including but not limited to the phone and diet office
- High level of attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong understanding of therapeutic diets
- Strong working knowledge of computers and computer programs
- Basic understanding of office equipment and procedures
- Provide a high level of customer service while assisting the patient
