Job Summary
Diesel Truck Maintenance Technician responsible for preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on tractors and trailers in compliance with DOT, FHWA, and company standards. Tasks include diagnosing mechanical/electrical/hydraulic issues, performing annual/90-day inspections on cargo tanks, replacing worn parts, welding as needed, and documenting work in maintenance software. Requires knowledge of diesel engines and DOT regulations, ability to read manuals and diagnostics, use of inspection equipment and diagnostic software, and adherence to OSHA and environmental policies. Office environment is shop-based with no travel required; safety and quality assurance are emphasized, including handling hazardous wastes and maintaining equipment longevity.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to inspect tanks and trailers to align with DOT standards (49CFR HM180.407)
- Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures
- Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software
- Language: English proficiency
