Job Summary
Inspect and maintain critical shipboard systems including main propulsion diesel engines, couplings, clutch assemblies, lubricating oil systems, combustion air systems, and power generation diesel engines as directed by Navy Regional Maintenance Centers. Perform Navy assessments and inspections, execute physical shipboard surveys per assigned division protocols, and read technical documentation for critical shipboard assessments. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and maintain an active Department of Defense SECRET Security Clearance. Requires five to seven years of experience operating and maintaining Navy shipboard diesel-power generating equipment, an Associate's degree in STEM, or two additional years of specific experience, plus completion of the Diesel Engine Inspection course within two years of hire. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with background and applicable required job experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Security Clearance
- 5 to 7 years of experience operating and maintaining Navy shipboard diesel-power generating equipment
- Direct knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, Navy Standard Items, and applicable Naval Ships' Technical Manuals
- Demonstrated experience performing Navy assessments and inspections
- Ability to execute physical shipboard surveys in accordance with assigned division protocols
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation pertaining to critical shipboard assessments
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- MS Office suite proficiency
- Have completed, or ability to complete, Diesel Engine Inspection course within two years of hire
- Ability to use clear and concise oral and written communications
- Associate's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field
