Job Summary
Perform vehicle maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trucks, including routine oil changes, brake work, and tire service. Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers, identify root causes of failures, and replace defective components. Conduct standard component inspections and facility maintenance while interacting with drivers to determine complaint nature. Utilize the Shop Management System for electronic documentation and adhere to all federal, state, and corporate compliance guidelines. Requires valid CDL Class A (obtainable within 6 months), two years of mechanical repair experience, and completion of on-the-job paid training. Second shift Tuesday through Saturday from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic tools
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
