Job Summary
Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy-duty vehicles at client sites or breakdown locations, including troubleshooting electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension systems. Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment, interpret test results, and execute repair procedures while writing detailed repair orders describing causes and corrections. Manage service truck inventory, tools, and paperwork daily, communicate repair information and obtain customer permission for additional work, and coordinate with the parts department. Conduct road tests to verify repairs and track clocked hours to repair orders. Requires a valid CDL, ability to work 8–10 hour days including overtime, and physical stamina for lifting up to 100 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit on a regular basis with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds
- Ability to work 8 – 10 hour days, including overtime hours as needed
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to outside weather elements
- Ability to use computer keyboard and Windows basics
- Ability to read and interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics and various other technical bulletins
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision needed
- Personal tool inventory to allow for the completion of job duties and assignments
- Responsible for collecting payment cash, credit card, or po# etc.
