Job Summary
The Diesel Technician Level 2 will repair and diagnose major components or service/remove/replace various systems in trucks and trailing equipment. Responsibilities include conducting preventive maintenance, performing electrical and mechanical repairs, and ensuring compliance with DOT standards. The role requires diagnosing malfunctions, performing routine maintenance, and maintaining the work area. Candidates must possess 2-4 years of experience in tractor trailer maintenance, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid CDL Class A license. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in shop tools and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- 2-4 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills
- Broad understanding of fleet maintenance policies, DOT standards and industry practices
- Organized with the ability to deal with multiple activities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in the use of shop tools required
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Strong work ethic
- Excellent communication skills- Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and written, and can read and understand English
- Clean MVR and able to operate service truck
- A valid CDL Class A license is required- (with air brake endorsement)
- Basic computer skills to enter data into maintenance software system is required
- Results oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision in non-climate-controlled environment required
- Ability to travel as needed for various training required
- Must have own tools (hand and pneumatic) sufficient to do any job that is required
Desired Qualifications
- Vocational / technical or certification preferred
- Specialized training in the repair and replacement of vehicle components preferred
- Forklift certified operator’s license preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must be annual vehicle inspector certified and brake inspector certified (per DOT requirements)
