Job Summary
Conduct daily maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers, including inspecting air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheels, and springs. Perform vehicle inspections and brake maintenance in compliance with DOT regulations and company standards. Operate tractor/trailer units within terminal premises and manage multiple projects as a self-starter. Maintain a safe, clean shop environment by properly disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Complete repair orders and records timely while communicating with the Maintenance Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High School Education or equivalent
- Ability to safely operate tractor/trailer unit within terminal premises
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Self-starter with detail oriented work habits
- Meet qualification requirement as stipulated in Section 396.19 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as required to perform vehicle inspections
- Meet qualification requirements as stipulated in Section 396.25 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as required to perform brake maintenance/repairs
- Basic mechanics skills
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, federal, state, local and company regulations and standards
- Knowledge of basic company employment policies and procedures

Desired Qualifications
- Should possess or be willing to obtain ASE Brake certification within the first 180 days of employment
- ASE certifications preferred
- Ability to safely repair specification cargo tanks if facility is a DOT Registered Inspector
- Ability to repair specification cargo tanks if the facility has an ASME-authorized U stamp or a National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessels authorized R stamp
- Ability to perform inspections on specification cargo tanks if facility is a DOT Registered Inspector
- Ability to inspect, repair, or replace domes, valves, vents, or other equipment as necessary within safety, regulatory and company standards
- Ability to ensure proper treatment of various required components that include, but are not limited to: air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheel, and springs
- Ability to display professional demeanor
- Ability to demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules
