Job Summary
Perform brake and airbag replacements, repair air lines, and fix engine parts on semi-trucks and shop equipment. Diagnose deficiencies across electrical, A/C, fuel, emissions, brakes, steering, and hydraulic systems while inspecting vehicles, trailers, and conveyor systems for wear or damage. Complete preventive maintenance, winterization, and component upgrades, then fabricate and repair parts using MIG and stick welding. Maintain accurate service and maintenance records, manage inventory, and order supplies. Occasionally perform local field repairs on hydraulic and diesel equipment. Ensure compliance with federal and state safety and emissions standards while controlling costs through warranty evaluation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of experience as a diesel mechanic for semis and trailers
- Valid driver's license
- Class A CDL
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Troubleshooting skills across required systems
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Effective English reading and writing skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to understand and follow laws, regulations, and company guidelines
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a diverse team
- Ability to work on uneven outdoor surfaces and in all weather conditions
- Ability to meet all physical requirements, including lifting up to 100 lbs., climbing, kneeling, standing, walking, bending, squatting, pulling, and reaching
