Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on garbage trucks, covering engines, chassis, hydraulics, brakes, and suspension systems. Inspect equipment for condition, fluid levels, and mechanical failures while utilizing vehicle computer electronics to interpret failure modes. Conduct safety checks, complete required paperwork in fleet maintenance software, and review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Maintain a clean, safe work area complying with OSHA standards and perform strenuous physical tasks involving heavy lifting. Work indoors in a shop or outdoors on the road with consistent 50–60 hours weekly.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience, that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics repair
  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks
  • Extensive physical activity
  • Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds
  • Must provide own personal tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Welding/fabrication experience
  • ASE Certifications
