Job Summary
Perform standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex mechanical inspections on heavy-duty equipment. Diagnose electronic problems using diagnostic computers and replace defective components with minimal supervision. Interact with drivers to determine complaint nature and utilize the Shop Management System for electronic documentation. Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels while adhering to federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines. Complete required OEM diagnostic scan tool courses and SBT training within specified timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Basic tools
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220)
- Complete 2 of the OEM On-Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mi. (predominant OEM of fleet mix completed within 365days)
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational or Technical Certification
- Post Secondary degree
- Technical Certifications
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A
